David Walston

David was born on Thriplow Farm, near Cambridge, but spent the first 27 years of his life with little interest in farming - gaining a degree in biology and then becoming a photographer in London. In 2010 he fairly reluctantly started working on the farm, but soon came to realise what an incredible job and opportunity it was. Since then he has completed a Nuffield Scholarship focused on soil health, and moved the 900ha farm fully into a Conservation Agriculture system - aiming to improve the soils in the long term, whilst also increasing shorter term profitability. David is married with two young daughters, and spends his non-farming time greedily cooking & eating, playing Mariokart online, or volunteering as a Community First Responder.
