UK milk deliveries
Updated 20 February 2026
Trends in UK milk production. Milk delivery volumes to dairies are reported for UK, GB and NI. We compare the latest production to the previous week and year as well as track production against the latest AHDB forecast. UK delivery information is available in the data download.
Please note we have reviewed our weighting process for our daily deliveries data so that it is now improved with greater accuracy. As a result we have made some minor revisions to update previously estimated historical data.
Daily deliveries
GB milk deliveries increased 0.6% compared to the previous week.
They are now running 4.2% above the same week last year – equivalent to 1.4 million litres.

Figure 2. GB and NI production year-on-year change in average daily milk deliveries
Source: AHDB, Daera, Defra, RPA
The light blue bar shows annual change for GB, the dark blue for Northern Ireland. GB annual change was negative from December 2023 until August 2024, while Northern Ireland was slightly positive. Both began to rise in September 2024, peaking in April 2025. In December 2025 the GB figure was just below 1.8m litres per day.
Additional information
We estimate overall milk production from a weekly survey of the largest milk buyers covering approximately 80% of volumes in GB. The volumes are scaled up based on other available data, including the official Defra production statistics.
Figures are collected every week from dairies and may include some estimates which are also subject to retrospective changes.
Week-on-week changes are adjusted to negate the impact of every-other-day collection, which can lead to day-to-day swings in the volume of milk collected.
Data is not butterfat adjusted.
*Monthly milk production figures are estimated by AHDB from daily milk delivery survey data and therefore may differ from the milk production figures published by Defra. The monthly figure is therefore an estimate based on latest information and is subject to retrospective changes.
Monthly and annual totals are not adjusted for leap years.
