George’s career path began with the Kenneth Wilson Group, gaining a solid foundation in grain quality through hands-on experience in the group’s laboratories. This provided the springboard for his transition into grain trading within the KW Group and with its parent company, Bunge.

In the late 1980s, George joined Fengrain, a farmer-owned cooperative based in Cambridgeshire. As Head of Grain Marketing, he was instrumental in maximising returns for members while promoting the cooperative model.

A decade later, George moved to Heygates Limited, one of the UK’s largest milling businesses. As Director of Wheat Procurement, his immediate responsibilities include the sourcing of wheat alongside the sale of wheatfeed co-products, flour, and wheat-based ingredients to the Group’s largest customers.

George has served on the UK Flour Millers Wheat Committee for nearly 30 years and has been Chairman for the past eight. He is presently representing the milling sector in the Leadership Group of the Digital Grain Passport, and chairs the Development Group. He also sits on the UK Feed Wheat Advisory Committee of the ICE Wheat Futures.
