Dr Laura Underdown (nee James) is an agricultural scientist, experienced communicator and 2025 Nuffield Farming Scholar working at the frontline of farmer-led knowledge exchange in the UK arable sector. As a Senior Knowledge Transfer Manager at Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, she designs research and knowledge exchange programmes that put farmers at the centre, turning scientific evidence into practical on-farm decision making through peer-to-peer learning, on-farm trials and innovative engagement approaches.


Laura has a PhD in agricultural science, studying impacts of changing agricultural land use on pollinators and ecosystem service provision on farm. Since then, she has held roles across the agricultural sector within academia, industry, NGOs, Intergovernmental Orgs and public bodies.
