Sophie Brewster

Originating from Whithorn, Dumfries & Galloway, Sophie is based in Central Scotland, alongside her husband and 3 young children on their family dairy.  Sophie previously worked for AHDB dairy before taking on an autumn block, dairy contract farming agreement.  She now works alongside her husband with an AYR, fully housed Holstein herd that supports a milk vending and artisan gelato enterprise.  Sophie has a broad experience across all aspects of dairy farming; her main interests are in calf rearing and heifer survivability.

“I am looking forward to working for AHDB, connecting with new and familiar faces across the industry. My immediate goal is to engage with farmers and industry representatives; bringing a level of awareness of what we do, how we can improve and overall, positively add to our diverse dairy industry.  I have a generally positive outlook on dairy farming; however, I know too well the challenges facing farmers and ultimately want to work hard to benefit farmers and the wider dairy industry across Scotland.  I strongly believe in learning from each other, taking on different views and challenging what we do to improve ourselves and our business; there are many ways we can continually do this.”
