Coronavirus: planning and compliance

Having a clear plan in place will help you to prepare for the unexpected. This could include:

• Making all staff aware of what needs to be done if you need to house or keep more livestock than usual; for example, due to a contract change.

• A clear, documented emergency plan including all potential risks.

• Practical advice on the actions that should be taken.

• Ensuring that health and welfare standards are maintained, and are compliant with your assurance scheme.

Making sure the lines of communication are open is more important than ever. Whether that’s by email, text message, video call or over the phone. Use our template (below) of key contacts that you can print off and keep to hand.

Also, you may want to:

• Speak to your processor for advice on the current situation and any contract changes.
• Get in touch with your vet and farm assurance scheme.
• Contact to your AHDB knowledge exchange manager for additional advice.
