Agronomy: North East Conference
Following the success of AHDB’s Agronomy conference this event will bring some of the key learnings into a regional perspective, giving you the opportunity to discuss the latest research with experts from across the cereals, oilseeds industry.
This event will provide information, thought-provoking conversations and opportunities for discussion. You will be joined by a range of speakers from research, industry and farming to provide expertise from various areas of agriculture
The conferene will provide agronomists and farmers with a toolbox of practical strategies to use across the rotation including;
The role of soil health - A structured way to monitor changes to soil health is being delivered by a five-year research programme. As part of AHDB’s GREATsoils work, this presentation will discuss soil health and how to measure it and improve it across the arable rotation. We will also discuss the importance of managing your nutrients and the use of manures and fertilisers looking ahead.
Fungicides and disease management - Our fungicide performance work provides high-quality, independent information on the efficacy of fungicides against key diseases in wheat, barley and oilseed rape. Hear the latest results and find out about fungicide resistance concerns in septoria tritici.
What does the future look like? - We will hear from a Phd student who is developing a decision support system for Septoria spraying. The work is developing into ‘Spraybot’, a project with the Small Robot Company using a range of chemistry including bio pesticides.
