Please join Gary Shipley, Huggate monitor farmer for the last meeting of our winter series where we will be joined by Becky Wilson who will lead discussion on how carbon calculations can assist arable farmers in managing their zero carbon targets. Huggate monitor farm will have completed the farm carbon cutting tool and we will discuss how to analysis your own figures and what it means.

On the agenda:

Climate change is arguably the greatest challenge facing the world today and British farmers are all too aware of the increasingly frequent weather extremes. Consequently farmers have a responsibility to protect carbon reserves already in the soils and vegetation.

As highlighted in the Governments 25 year environmental strategy and by its net zero greenhouse gases emissions target, farmers must prepare their businesses for the pending deadlines. In this session of two halves we will look at:

  • How to interpret your results and how carbon audits can help farm businesses make strategic decisions
  • Making a realistic management plan to reduce carbon on arable farms
  • Carbon trading
