Loppington Monitor Farm meeting: Growing more from less!
Farmers are under mounting pressure to produce high-quality food that consumers demand due to a series of chemical bans that have limited their toolkit to combat diseases and pests at a time of increasingly challenging weather patterns.
The Loppington Monitor Farm meeting theme will be minimum not minimal: looking at how we can reduce inputs whilst maintaining yield, profitability and crop quality.
Andy Howard will be talking us through his on-farm research on maximising the available nutrients from soil and cropping, through intercropping, using a mixture of varieties, using molasses, testing sugars and more. Learn from his experiences and forward-looking approach. Roma Gwynn or BioRationale will then help us explore the potential of biopesticides, such as insect-killing bacteria, in tacking pests and diseases on UK arable farms.
BASIS and NRoSO points will be available.
