How do different AHDB Recommended Lists varieties perform in the field, and what can experts reveal about their potential?
Our RL variety open days are your chance to hear non-commercialised insights on all the RL varieties and what they have to offer.
We will also be giving the latest updates on the Planting Variety Survey, the 2025 harvest outlook for Scotland, our future varietal blend research, and an update from your Scotland Knowledge Exchange Manager (KEM) on the baselining pilot.
This event will cover
- Exclusive trial plot experience: Get an up-close look at how varieties perform in the field, hear firsthand insights from the end users, and discover what’s coming next in RL trials for the upcoming season
- Varietal blends research unveiled: Georgia Hassel (IPM) will dive into our upcoming trials in potential variety selections and testing requirements for blends and discuss previous barley research project results
- 2025 harvest outlook: Olivia Bonser (E&A) will give us the first insights into the Planting and Variety Survey, what’s happening in the grain markets, and the Scottish outlook for this coming harvest
- Baselining pilot insights: Hear from your Scotland KEM, Adrian James, on the latest findings on the baselining pilot and what lies ahead for the project
