Wisbech Monitor Farm meeting: Digging up the dirt on soil health & cover crops

At the February Wisbech Monitor Farm meeting, Liz Stockdale (NIAB) will lead us on a journey to better understand our soils and how to best manage them to be healthy and resilient, we will also look at cover crops, and Andy Howard (Bockhanger Farms) will discuss his journey and Nuffield Scholarship looking at intercropping and companion crops. 

This meeting will: 

  • Demonstrate where soil health levels are at on the farm is now. 
  • Quantify and demonstrate what is good or bad soil health. 
  • Look at how to assess your soils in a consistent manner. 
  • Offer a practical look at how to increase rooting in order to improve uptake from soils. 
  • Discuss cover crop options 
  • Review the options for companion cropping and intercropping 

The event is free to attend, but please register to allow us to cater for you accordingly.  

If weather permits there will be a short field walk so, please bring suitable footwear/coats.
