Getting to grips with new welfare training
Red Tractor has announced changes to its assurance standards following an industry-wide consultation; these will apply from 1 November 2021.
One of the new requirements is that anyone involved with the care of pigs must complete online pig welfare training in key areas, including best practice around moving and handling pigs.
To explain what this means in practice and to answer any questions, we’ll be discussing it at a series of pig clubs this autumn/winter.
Join us to find out:
- What the training will involve
- How to access the course
- Why you need to complete the training
- The consequences of not complying
The new welfare training platform, developed by AHDB and key stakeholders, is due to go live soon. In the meantime, you can find out more about the training here.
At each of the events, we'll also be discussing the business resilience funding that’s available to help farmers navigate the fallout of the loss of direct payments and help future proof their businesses.
Register for one of the events:
9 November: Salisbury pig club
16 November: Gloucester pig club
29 November: Cornwall pig club
30 November: Somerset pig club
Refreshments will be provided.
And don’t forget to register your attendance on PigPro, your online training record.
