Baroness Minette Batters to speak at AHDB Big Scottish Crops Conference

Wednesday, 4 November 2026

Join our Big Scottish Crops Conference on 10 December 2026 to hear from leading industry speakers, including Baroness Minette Batters, and take part in discussions on the key issues affecting Scottish arable farming.

Scottish arable farmers and industry professionals are invited to attend our Big Scottish Crops Conference at the Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline. Taking place from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Thursday 10 December 2026, the event will bring together growers, industry experts and stakeholders from across the sector.

Farmer and former NFU President Baroness Minette Batters will be among the headline speakers. Baroness Batters led the Farming Profitability Review in 2025 and will share insights from her experience working across UK agriculture.

Following the success of last year’s first-ever conference, this is another opportunity for all Scottish arable farmers and industry stakeholders to get together, hear from experts and discuss the issues that concern them.

Other speakers include:

  • Jenny Brunton, British Agriculture Bureau (BAB), who will explain what the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) agreement could mean for Scottish arable farmers
  • Tom Allen Stevens, British On-Farm Innovation Network (BOFIN), sharing the latest work on innovation, collaboration and practical changes across the arable sector
  • An industry panel discussing the question: ‘Is the grain origins debate a fair shot for Scottish arable farmers?’
  • Anthony Hopkins, AHDB Cereals & Oilseeds Director, discussing what Scottish growers want from their levy investment

Adrian James, AHDB Knowledge Exchange Manager, Cereals & Oilseeds, said:

“Last year’s conference was well-attended. Delegates said they enjoyed the day and found it informative and helpful.

"They also valued the opportunity to talk to other farmers and people in the industry, pooling experiences and making new contacts. I hope they will return in December, and look forward to seeing new faces, too.

"Events like this are important in these uncertain times.”
