Chefs take up #WatercressChallenge at live London event
Tuesday, 5 March 2019
Top British chefs will join forces to create an eight-course dinner showcasing the versatility of watercress at an interactive event in Central London on 25 March.
AHDB Horticulture is acting on feedback from British growers with #WatercressChallenge to drive awareness and usage of this tasty and nutritional super-salad veg.
Featuring watercress in each dish from canapés through to dessert, chefs Chris Wheeler, Louisa Ellis, Daniel Britten, Robbie Lorraine, Hari Ghotra and Eddie Kilty, have created an innovative menu, which also uses Quality Standard Mark beef and lamb.
A watercress, sweet yoghurt and coconut dome, with bitter chocolate shavings and watercress oil, Tandoori spiced lamb neck masala with watercress pilau, and a 28-day aged filet of beef with a watercress pesto are some of the dishes on offer during the evening.
Compere and founder of the foodie event company, London Kitchen Social, Majella O’Connell said: “I am delighted to be hosting this crossover event and not only to be working with such talented and passionate chefs but also to be affiliated with great produce and help promote the virtues of this wonderfully versatile ingredient.”
Tickets are available for £79 and the audience will be able to connect with chefs and ask questions on the dishes and techniques used during the supper.
Chef Hari Ghotra added: “Watercress is such a versatile ingredient, with flavours which work well in a variety of different dishes. The kitchen social event will allow us to demonstrate that, speaking to guests who can enjoy cocktails and chocolates designed especially for the evening. We’d like to inspire people to come along, learn new skills and techniques, and of course to put watercress on their plates.”
AHDB Horticulture is supporting #WatercressChallenge and the #LKSLive event, which will be held at Grace Hall, Central London. Tickets are on sale now via: https://lkslive-presents-an-evening-with-watercress.eventbrite.co.uk/
