Wednesday, 1 October 2025
Market commentary
- UK feed wheat futures fell yesterday. The Nov-25 contract closed at a new low of £164.05/t, down £2.45/t (1.5%) from Monday’s close
- Chicago wheat and Paris milling wheat futures (Dec-25) decreased by 2.2% and 1.2% respectively. Yesterday's USDA reports revealed higher-than-average estimates for US wheat production and stocks. This has led to accelerated price decreases in Chicago, with prices reaching seasonal lows
- Yesterday, the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange announced that Argentina's 2025/26 wheat crop is expected to reach 22 Mt, up from the previous estimate of 20.5 Mt
- Paris rapeseed futures (Nov-25) gained €0.75/t (0.2%) to €466.00/t yesterday, while Chicago soyabeans futures (Nov-25) fell by 0.9%. Despite lower-than-average estimates for soyabean ending stocks in the US, the Chicago futures market fell yesterday, mainly due to concerns about demand and the harvest of a bumper crop
- According to the EU Commission data rapeseed 2025/26 imports totalled 0.92 Mt as of 28 September, compared to 1.32 Mt during the same period the previous year
