Supervisory skills workshops open for farmers & growers

Following on from a project to assess and improve labour efficiency, new workshops have been set up so farmers and growers can learn and develop supervisory skills.

The AHDB funded workshops are aimed at individuals who are starting out on their agricultural career or have been recognised as potential supervisors of the future.

Starting from 8 November, the workshops will be held at venues across the country and led by training consultancy, Cedar Associates.

Responsible for setting up the workshops is AHDB External Industry Skills Development Manager, Tess Howe.

Tess said: “Agricultural and horticultural businesses now have the opportunity to improve the skills of workers who they see taking on a supervisory role in the future, or alternatively for those already working as supervisors who may benefit from training.

“The workshops are free to attend and cover a broad range of topics from core management skills, to communication and change management, so supervisors are equip to get the best performance from their teams, helping to increase productivity in the industry.”

The workshops run from 9am – 5pm and will be held on the dates and locations included below:

  • 8 November 2018 – Norwich, Norfolk
  • 22 November 2018 – York
  • 13 December 2018 – Lincolnshire
  • 17 January 2019 – Kenilworth, Warwickshire
  • 30 January 2019 – Cornwall
  • 31 January 2019 – Winchester, Hampshire
  • 7 March 2019 – Bridge of Allan, Stirling
  • 12 March 2019 – East Sussex
