Market commentary
- UK feed wheat futures edged higher yesterday, supported by a weaker sterling. The Nov-25 contract closed at £167.65/t, up £0.30/t from Wednesday’s close.
- Meanwhile, global wheat markets remained under pressure due to ample supply. Chicago wheat futures (Dec-25) fell by 0.8%, while Paris milling wheat futures (Dec-25) closed unchanged.
- Coceral raised its 2025/26 EU and UK soft wheat production forecast to a ten-year high of 147.4 Mt, up from 143.1 Mt in June. Barley output is now projected at 63.8 Mt, up from 59.2 Mt in June.
- The International Grains Council (IGC) increased its 2025/26 global wheat production estimate by 7.7 Mt to 818.7 Mt, citing improved prospects in Australia, Canada and Russia.
- Paris rapeseed futures (Nov-25) gained €5.00/t to €475.75/t yesterday, supported by a weaker euro against the US dollar. However, gains were capped by broader weakness across the oilseed complex.
