The UK Dairy Carbon Network

We are proud to be part of the UK Dairy Carbon Network – a new initiative working with over 50 dairy farms across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland to put practical, farm-ready solutions for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions into action.

Led by the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) and funded by Defra, the project brings together a UK-wide consortium of leading research institutions, farmer levy bodies, and industry organisations.

Each partner plays a crucial role in identifying, supporting, and demonstrating effective ways to cut emissions while maintaining farm productivity.

As part of the project, we are responsible for the three GB farmer networks, alongside Agrisearch, who manage the NI network, as well as communication and knowledge exchange.

The project focuses on seven proven areas of emissions reduction, offering participating farms tailored advice and implementation plans suited to their system and geography.

Knowledge exchange to spread best practice is at the heart of the project. Keep an eye out for a series of farm walks, open days, and networking opportunities.

Together, we aim to accelerate the adoption of GHG-reducing practices and support a more resilient and sustainable future for UK dairy.
