Sarah Penrose

Sarah was raised on a small beef farm in North Yorkshire where her passion for the industry first developed.

After finishing school, Sarah studied at the local agricultural college and was awarded a first class BSc in Animal Science. She then joined Morrisons Supermarkets on the manufacturing graduate scheme.

After working in the retail industry for two years, the agricultural sector called her home and she accepted a role undertaking the Farm Business Survey.  Whilst working, Sarah also completed an MSc in Sustainable Agriculture through distance learning.

After graduating for the second time, Sarah joined the AHDB as a beef specialist before moving into the knowledge exchange team.

In 2019 Sarah completed a Nuffield Farming Scholarship looking at heifer management strategies in the suckler herd. This enabled her to travel to the USA, Canada, Brazil, Australia and New Zealand as well as countries much closer to home. Sarah is still strongly involved with the families beef herd and in her spare time she enjoys running, completing a marathon in 2018.
