Herefordshire Grassland Society: Producing food economically and creating space for nature
The Herefordshire Grassland Society (HGS) invites its members and non-members to its summer meeting and barbeque.
This year’s theme is “Producing food economically and creating space for nature”, with AHDB's nutrition scientist Dr Matthew Elmes providing a talk about 'Unlocking success for British agriculture'. It also includes a farm tour of Abbey Court Farm's beef unit, arable crops and its environmental features.
What the meeting will cover:
- The role of nutrition in sustainable British agriculture
- Insights into farming and nutrition strategy from AHDB
- Practical tour showcasing: beef unit, arable crop systems and environmental features on the farm
Speakers:
- AHDB's Dr Matthew Elmes
- Jack Lyke and Clive Gurney – Farm hosts and tour guides for the evening
Session timings:
6:00 pm – arrival
6:30 pm – opening address by Dr Matthew Elmes
7:00 pm – farm tour with Jack Lyke and Clive Gurney
8:00 pm – barbeque (£10 per person)
Additional info: Open to non HgS members
Cost: Free to attend the talks and tour. £10 per person for the barbeque
