When milk prices are under pressure, structural decisions can have long-term consequences. This webinar, the second of four in our milk price support series, focuses on reviewing system efficiency to ensure today’s decisions do not compromise next season’s performance.

The session will help you assess whether your current system is optimal for the milk price you are operating within.

We will explore the balance between yield and cow numbers, and how fixed cost dilution influences overall performance. Feeding strategy will be considered in the context of output and system fit, alongside labour efficiency and workload management.

The session will also review heifer rearing numbers and replacement rate strategy, helping you understand how herd structure decisions affect future productivity and resilience.

What the webinar will give you:

  • Greater clarity on whether your current system is fit for the milk price environment
  • Confidence in balancing yield, cow numbers and fixed costs
  • Insight into labour and replacement rate efficiency
  • Understanding of where to adjust safely and where short-term cuts risk long-term performance

We’ll also highlight practical tools and support available via AHDB, including the milk price support hubmilk price calculator and wider business resilience resources.

If you’re a dairy farmer or business manager, don’t miss your chance to learn about reviewing herd size, output and system structure in response to milk price pressure.

This webinar is part of a four-part series focused on milk prices, designed to give dairy farmers practical tools and resources to manage their business with confidence.
