The ability to make difficult decisions is one of the defining roles of the modern farmer. You are invited to this open event which will help develop the skills, knowledge and tools required to operate a resilient farming business.

Bryan Watters (Cranfield University)

Developing your critical decision-making skills under pressure while taking into account a managing and valuing your own time. Bryan will reflect on formative leadership experiences whilst serving as a Commander with the UN Protection Force during the Bosnian and Iraq wars.

Rachael Madeley Davies (Kite Consulting)

While difficult circumstances such as weather, market volatility, peer pressure and parental expectations are often beyond our influence, much of our stress is actually within our own control. Rachael Madeley Davies will help us understand how you can learn to embrace and manage change in the farming environment to become a more resilient individual.

Blair Mckenzie (James Hutton Institute)

Choosing a crop establishment technique which is suitable for your system is a key component to improving your soil health and achieving your yield potential. Blair Mackenzie will be drawing on a wealth of knowledge to discuss the considerations to make when choosing the most suitable crop establishment approach for your farm.

Tom Mead (AHDB Duxford Monitor Farm)

Cambridgeshire farmer Tom Mead will explain how he best aims to establish, maintain and harvest a healthy and profitable cereal crop on his farm..

Forage session
 

Siwan Howatson – (AHDB)

Siwan has an expertise in grassland and forage management. She will discuss key consideration for the 2020 season and how to maximise value from your grasses and forages.

Eurig Jenkins (Pentrefelin Farm)

The Pentrefelin team are well known for running an efficient spring block calving herd, maximising milk from forage. Eurig is a grazing mentor and is passionate about profitable, grassbased farming. He will outline their farming system, its strengths and weaknesses and how they continually develop their business without getting distracted by over complicating the system.

The event is free to attend and all are welcome but for catering purposes booking is essential.
