GB milk deliveries: September milk deliveries show no signs of slowing
Thursday, 9 October 2025
GB milk deliveries in September are estimated to have totalled 1,023 million litres, up 5.5% compared to the same period in 2024. Daily deliveries averaged at 34.09 million litres
Production for this year’s milk season so far (April-September) sits at 6,559 million litres, up 5.3% compared to the same period in 2024.

September marked another month of record highs while producers made use of good margins.
According to the Met Office, much of the UK experienced a wetter than average September, encouraging some late season grass growth and some pasture recovery after a very dry summer.
Though milk to feed price ratio (MFPR) continues to be well in the expansion zone, falls in milk prices are expected due to tumbling commodity prices and a growing supplies of milk both domestically and globally.
Our latest quarterly production forecast expects GB milk production for the 2025/26 season to record a new high of 12.89bn litres, 3.6% more than the previous milk year.
Production growth is likely to fall back in early 2026 amid easing commodity prices and consequent milk price falls, and we will be annualising against a year of record volumes. Additionally, strong cull cow prices, uncertainty of winter forage, future finances and global geopolitical factors, could put a brake on production.
