Cancelled - Cheshire Strategic Farm: Project successes, future plans and farewells
Event cancelled
Nominated Farmers Weekly Beef Farmer of the Year 2021 farmer, Ian Nobury runs a herd of 106 Aberdeen Angus suckler cows on his 100ha, predominantly grassland farm in Cheshire.
Ian joined the Strategic Farm programme in 2017 with the aim of creating a profitable suckler business which also allowed him to spend time with his young family. This has resulted in him making a number of changes to his business including improving his grass and forage management, increasing cow performance and implementing new technologies and innovation where cost effective.
This final on farm event will be an opportunity to hear more about the changes he has made and the result this has had on his business. Topics being discussed include:
- Lessons learnt from outwintering suckler cows, including managing wet winters and crop failures.
- Implementing rotational grazing, ensuring good growth rates from grass alone.
- Improving cow efficiency by reducing cow mature weight and tightening the calving period.
- Why its important to work closely with the vet to get the most from your cows.
We will also be joined by James Hadwin of JH Agri Consultancy who has helped Ian every step of the way along his Strategic Farm journey.
