Chelmsford Monitor Farm Summer Meeting
The Chelmsford Monitor Farm summer meeting will be looking at a variety of topics based around the Monitor Farm programme from the winter. This includes an update on the machinery that has been bought and sold at Parklands Farm and a discussion around the latest machinery fleet for the farm including the new drill.
Drainage will be a key topic of discussion with expert Rob Burtonshaw and incorporating the impact on black-grass, yield, costings and the reasons behind collapsed land drains. The group will discuss the best way forward for Howard & Daughter with a future drainage scheme.
The farm walk will also include the current cropping on-farm, including a visit to the millet, winter wheat and the YEN trial with differing nutrition programmes and at the cover crop being grown for seed.

- 10:30 Farm Walk, to include:

- Cover cropping try-out before millet
- YEN crop
- Cover crop – grown for seed
- Machinery – before and after (yard display of current kit), including new Sly drill
- Black-grass management and cropping around the farm: millet, wheat, beans
- 12:00 Group Discussion – Drainage options for Brookfield
