Protein and Mixed Forage Beef project
Home-grown forage and protein self-sufficiency is key to profitability and sustainability. AHDB’s Protein and Mixed Forage project explores the potential to replace high cost concentrates with home-grown forage in the finishing phase to reduce feed costs. Initial results show that replacing a significant proportion of cereals with a high energy and protein forage can reduce feed costs whilst retaining high quality finished cattle. Come along to Harper Adams University to learn more about this project, home-grown forage production and the importance of mineral supplementation and auditing in the finishing phase.
