AHDB statement on the refreshed bTB strategy

Wednesday, 10 June 2026

We welcome the publication of the refreshed bovine tuberculosis (bTB) control strategy and an increase in momentum to tackle a disease that has a devastating impact on many beef and dairy farmers across the UK.

The strategy sets out a structured, evidence-based approach to reducing disease over time.

It draws on science, operational data and input from over 100 stakeholders across farming, veterinary, academic, industry and government organisations as well as experts from AHDB.

The strategy acknowledges the need to work at pace to achieve the long-term objective of Official Bovine TB-Free (OTF) status for England by 2038, critically recognising the role of farmers and vets at a local level.

We will continue to work with the industry to support the implementation of a strategy that ensures the best outcomes for our levy payers and achieves the effective control of bovine TB.
