Diverging lamb prices

Lamb prices have diverged in trend with liveweight prices falling and deadweight rising. In the week ended 9 March the GB liveweight OSL SQQ slipped 1.75p, to 259.64p/kg. This decline came following a 3.69p decline in the week before. Auction market throughputs fell 6%, to 106,400 head.

Meanwhile the GB deadweight OSL SQQ gained 3.5p during the week ending 5 March, to 574.4p/kg.

Average cull ewe prices at GB auction markets stood at £101.87/head in the week ended 9 March. The mutton market is currently supported with Ramadan due to begin on 2nd April.
