GB lamb prices edge down, but remain historically high

In the week ending 29 June, the GB NSL liveweight SQQ lost 8p from the week before to average 302.3p/kg. However, this average price is still 54p higher year-on-year.

An estimated 98,200 lambs (both new and old season) were sold through GB auction marts during the week, up 7% from the week before.
In the deadweight market, for the week ending 25 June, the GB SQQ also lost some ground, down 16p to average 646.7p/kg. This is still nearly 60p higher year-on-year.
An estimated 186,800 lambs were processed at GB abattoirs during the week, 1% fewer than the week before.
Cull ewes averaged £100.38 at auction in GB in the week ending 29 June, £11 lower than the previous week.
