What do you want from your pork levy?
Thursday, 9 December 2021
The current crisis has brought into sharp focus how important it is to have a unified approach to deal with challenges that face our sector.
It’s important to remind ourselves that by working together, and with the support of the levy, the industry can best position itself to survive tough times and thrive during the good times. This is a vital role that levy boards around the world provide for their levy payers.
In the spring, levy payers will be able to directly have their say on what the major challenges are for the pork sector and to influence the work AHDB does to help counter these.
This is your opportunity to ‘shape the future’ by having your say in what is important to you and your business: whether that’s selling every part of the pig for the best return, the work that goes into protecting the reputation of the industry, or marketing the benefits of pork to consumers via our Midweek Meals and We Eat Balanced campaigns. Maybe it’s disease surveillance, improving animal health and welfare, or reducing our impact on the environment? You will be able to influence all of this work by sharing your views.
We currently carry out work on all these fronts to support our levy payers. By taking part you will be directly influencing the Pork Sector Council − which is made up of producers, processors and other industry representatives − to prioritise what work is done by the AHDB team on your behalf.
I encourage all eligible to register to vote and help shape the future.
