Join us, The Farmer Network, and Catchment Sensitive Farming to answer your questions about herbal leys.

We have four amazing panellists with valuable knowledge of growing and using herbal leys, especially in Cumbria and more upland environments.

Speakers

  • James Bretherton (grassland consultant) – concentrates on soil conditions, health, biology and chemistry
  • James Hadwin (farmer and farm business consultant) – has a passion for pushing boundaries and working out how to get the best from livestock with different forages. He will discuss how to establish and manage herbal leys and the forage quality of these crops
  • Will Cleasby (farmer and works for RPA) – will give us an insight into how RPA looks for compliance against the SFI rules and regulations
  • Ben Rodgers (Catchment Sensitive Farming) – will tell us about the herbal ley trials he managed on farms in the Peak District, including the successes and failures with establishment, management, grazing, and cutting
