Are robots for you?
Join us for a webinar to explore whether switching to robotic milking is the right choice for your farm.
Milking robotically is not simply about replacing a human and saving a salary, it also has to future proof your business. With good staff in short supply, technology grants could encourage more dairy herds to switch to robotic milking.
Robots require attention to detail, high standards to maximise efficiency and a high milk yield for repaying capital outlay and higher running costs. They’re a good way to milk a cow, give her choice, reduce standing time (which in turn cuts lameness), maximise eating and lying time and remove the chore of milking.
To help you through the process, consultant Nigel Hardie of The Dairy Group will share his tips on the best way to research your options. You’ll hear about:
- Why it’s vital to spend 12 months investigating how robots could work on your farm
- Assessing your current infrastructure
- How to evaluate what might be needed in future
- Setting realistic budgets
- Management and infrastructure implications
- Defra’s farm resilience funding
