Improving farm productivity: Pembrokeshire Monitor Farm
Dig deeper into improving farm productivity
Successful crop establishment is crucial to achieving high yields and/or controlling farm costs, ensuring the profitability of a business.
At November's Pembrokeshire Monitor Farm meeting, Sarah Kendall (ADAS) and Tom Mead (AHDB Duxford Monitor Farm) will explore how they think a profitable crop can best be established.
We will aim to discuss:
- The effect of cultivation on crop establishment
- The cost of different crop establishment systems
- The impact of soil type on cereal establishment
- How can seed rate and plant population impact on yield?
- Does variable seed rate provide a better crop?
- Conductivity, yield and gross margin mapping, how can this information be useful for Pembrokeshire farmers?
- Is precision farming worth the investment on a family farm?
