AHDB publishes weekly fertiliser prices during Middle East conflict
Friday, 27 March 2026
We are now publishing weekly fertiliser prices to support the industry during the Middle East conflict.
The current crisis in the Gulf has caused an energy price shock which is rippling through global markets and is driving uncertainty on its implications for the agriculture sector.
Fertiliser is heavily impacted as gas makes up a significant cost in its production.
As a trusted provider of high-quality and timely data, we have been asked by the Farming Minister Angela Eagle, as well as industry representatives, to report on fertiliser prices on a more regular basis.
We have previously published fertiliser prices on a monthly basis but this will now be weekly going forward.
Rohit Kaushish, AHDB’s Chief Economist, said:
"We take great pride in providing independent, transparent and reliable market information to help levy payers make informed business decisions.
“This spans our information on farmgate prices, production volumes, international trade flows and even how consumers buying habits are changing.
“Given its importance to agricultural cost of production and the decisions being made by farmers in the months ahead, greater visibility on the fertiliser market is critical to support the ability of the sector to respond to the impacts of the conflict.
“Weekly reporting serves to provide a more granular view on the market impacts which will support the responsiveness of both industry and policy makers to events as they develop.”
