Industry insight and collaboration at the heart of Pigs Tomorrow

Wednesday, 21 May 2025

We were delighted to see so many levy payers enjoy the Pigs Tomorrow conference last week, an event we co-organised with Pig World magazine.

As the UK pig industry’s flagship biennial conference, it brought together producers, processors, retailers and policymakers for discussion, insight and strategic direction.

Co-hosted by Pig World’s Alistair Driver and AHDB Pork Sector Director Angela Christison, AHDB CEO Graham Wilkinson opened the event by highlighting the strength, support and sense of community within the industry.

Alongside a wide range of leading industry experts, AHDB speakers and panel members set out some of the tangible benefits we are delivering through the collective power of the levy: increasing demand, improving market access and protecting the reputation of British pork – all backed up by independent evidence.

Senior Analyst Freya Shuttleworth was a key speaker in the Global Outlook session, offering domestic and international market insights and helping frame the challenges and opportunities ahead.

A number of these presentations were followed by panel discussions, reinforcing the value of a collaborative approach, with plenty of audience interaction.

Later, Fiona Clayton and Grace Randall shared retail intelligence in the Brand Britain session, while Pork Sector Council Chair Glen Nimmo addressed supply chain resilience.

Sector council member Hugh Crabtree also shared his expertise on the importance of embracing sustainability challenges.

Networking, shared learning and British pork were all on the menu and, despite a backdrop of ongoing challenges, the event reflected a strong sense of optimism and determination across the sector to continue to strive for excellence.
