Lamb prices steady, higher numbers through

GB liveweight lamb prices were steady in the latest week; the GB liveweight SQQ averaging 234.97p/kg in the week ending 13 October. Numbers going through auction markets picked up to 124,000 head, 8% higher compared to the week before.

   

Deadweight sheep prices also gained ground in the week ending 9 October, with the GB deadweight SQQ 20p higher than week earlier levels, to average 522.6p/kg.

Estimated deadweight slaughter in the year to date is now 8.5m head, 1m head lower than at the same point in 2020.

 

Cull ewes fetched an average of £68.45/head at GB auction markets, around £4.50 less than a week ago.
